There is one big fallacy in our society when it comes to politicians and their stand on abortion. It is not rare to hear people say that candidates position on abortion can be justified through his or her other views and positions. If, for example, a candidate supports abortion but is anti-war and is supposedly proposing economic program that would prevent starvation somewhere in the world, his view on abortion therefore is morally justified because of his other views.
If it is not OK for an innocent child to be killed in a war, why is it OK for the same innocent life to be snatched from the mothers womb. If we were to enact an economic proposal that would save thousands of starving children somewhere in the world, it will never justify us before God what we have done to Terri Schiavo or Robert Wendland.
Our judgment is very clear when it comes to protecting bald eagle. It is illegal to even destroy a bald eagle's egg. Our moral judgment when it come to human exploitation is not as clear.
